    Hampton Farms Swim Team
    Volunteer Position - Descriptions
       
    Position Position Description
    Starter Trained position. Assists the Announcer and Ref in starting each event.
    Announcer Trained position. Assists the Starter and Ref in announcing each event.
    Bull Pen Using the "Heat Sheet" as their schedule, this person gathers swimmers and escorts them to the starting blocks several events before they are due to swim. (2 volunteers each half)
    Candy Table (pre-teen) A young person who is not swimming that sells candy at the "candy window"; often times a sibling of a swimmer. (1 or 2 volunteers each half)
    Concessions Helps the concession ladies sell food and drink in the clubhouse kitchen.
    Hospitality & Maintenance Delivers waters to volunteers working the meet, both home and away teams, including the county ref.; monitors trash cans and empty them as needed; monitors bathrooms for bath tissue, paper towels, and cleanliness (you do not have to clean the bathroom, just report a problem to the coordinators)
    Place Judge Sit at one of the 4 corners of the pool with a place judge from the other team; one of you "calls" the event, i.e. "lane 2 is 1st, lane 4 is 2nd, lane 1 is 3rd and lane 3 is 4th) and the other person writes it down.
    Pool Setup - 4pm to 5pm Arrange pool furniture for swim meet; put out flags; etc.
    Pool Breakdown - after meet Arrange pool furniture back to normal layout and helps clean the pool area.
    Runner Gathers time sheets from Timers and Place Judges and takes to computer table; continuous with each event
    Scorer Assists computer people with tallying the event times for each swimmer
    Stationary Lane - Deep only Using the "Heat Sheet" as their schedule, this person takes the swimmers from the Bull Pen person and makes sure the swimmers are lined up correctly and the correct swimmer is on the block at the right time; also helps to remind the younger swimmers of what stroke they are swimming for that event.
    Timer Using the "Heat Sheet" and the electronic timers, this person times the event and writes down the swimmers time for that event.
